    In short

    • The Acropolis Museum is open every day, and on Friday it stays open until 22:00 all year. On Saturday and Sunday it closes at 20:00, and on Monday at 17:00. From Tuesday to Thursday it closes at 20:00 from April to October and at 17:00 from November to March. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing.
    • It stands at the foot of the Acropolis, next to Akropoli metro station, about 280 metres from the Parthenon. You go up through the galleries in chronological order to the Parthenon Gallery on the top floor, and then come down again.
    • Short on time? Choose the entry ticket with the audio guide. Want a person to explain? Choose the guided tour, which does not include the ticket.

The Parthenon Gallery: the frieze as it stood

On the top floor the gallery has the shape of the temple, with columns that follow its outline. The frieze is displayed in its original direction, in view of the Parthenon itself, and white plaster copies mark the pieces that are in London.

You go up and come down in chronological order, so the story of the rock unfolds as you walk.

    The Caryatids: the originals

The maidens you saw on the porch of the Erechtheion are copies. The originals are here. Their restoration won an international prize in 2012.

A glass floor over the excavations

In parts of the museum the floor is glass, and under your feet you see the remains of an ancient district of Athens. The excavation site under the building is included in the ticket.
